Check out the new Copyright Claims Board (CCB) which is part of the U.S. Copyright Office. CCB is a 3-member tribunal within the Copyright Office that provides an efficient and user-friendly option to resolve certain copyright disputes that involve up to $30,000.00.
The U.S. Copyright Office has designated the Mechanical Licensing Collective, Inc (The MLC) to collect and distribute mechanical royalty payments under Title I of the Music Modernization Act. As of January 1, 2021 songwriters and music publishers must register with the MLC using the online claiming portal to receive royalty payments under the blanket license. There is no cost to be a member of the MLC.
